Getting there
By car or cable car
The smoother road, completely asphalted and with a wide carriageway, goes up from Sutrio (about 12 km), while the famous climb of the Giro d’Italia starts from Liariis (Ovaro) and goes up for about 9 km, also asphalted but, as known, much steeper. In addition to the option of transporting by cable car from Ravascletto, there is another itinerary, much longer but spectacular for the panorama, which starts from Villa Santina and winds through the hamlets of the Val di Lauco. In this case, the last 6 km or so are to be traveled on a dirt road, perfect for mountain bikes or off-road motorcycles.

On foot
The most convenient way to reach the Tamai Refuge, if you do not want to travel by car, involves the ascent by cable car from Ravascletto. Once you reach the “Cubo” (arrival station), a short flat walk of almost a kilometer will await you, which will take you first to the Zoncolan saddle (arrival of the Giro d’Italia) and, immediately after, to our refuge.
Still walking, you can reach us from Malga Pozof, along the road or path coming from Ovaro, or from Malga Meleit, if you have taken the path through the Val di Leuco. The climb that starts from piazzale Zoncolan, coming from Sutrio, is more common.
From the refuge it is then possible to reach many destinations along the route “La via delle malghe”, or to climb the top of Tamai (about an hour from the refuge) or, for the more sporty, the top of Mount Arvenis.
