The Alpaca is a distant relative of the camels, it is similar to the Lamas even if it is smaller and with straight ears. It is native to the Andes (Peru, Chile and Bolivia) and its wool is very valuable. È un animale docile, ci può accompagnare in piacevoli passeggiate ed è utilizzato anche per la pet therapy.

There are two breeds of Alpaca: “Suri” – the white specimens – and “Huacaya” – the dark specimens. The Suri breed is more prized because its fiber is similar to silk, but the Huacaya breed is very rare. Alpacas don’t mind the harsh climate and for this reason they can stay in Zoncolan in both summer and winter.

Sometimes they spit, but it’s not dangerous!
